It’s so different out here

So we’re back from up north. What a great place, where the only thing you’re blowing a tonne of money on is gasoline. It’s nice not to be surrounded by products and crazy people, but rather by trees and crazy people you enjoy spending time with. Adding pictures to Flickr periodically for the next day or two. There is nothing like a nice hike to simultaneously clear your mind and fill it with wonder. What a good trip. Back to grumbling when I wake up. … Continue reading

Git in, ya dumb bastids!

I’ve just seen a Johnny Depp movie that I didn’t particularly like. It’s a sad day in the world of me; except for all the other happy things that have happened, I mean. Which is pretty much everything else. Earlier today, I was about to text a girl I know when the phone started ringing. Answered, and no one was there. Went to text that same person again, and the phone rang once more. Answered, and this time it was someone apologizing for hanging up … Continue reading

And then there were 3… cats, I mean.

Miklos found a kitten in the woods (or rather, some old men found her but couldn’t keep her). After suggesting what seemed like a dictionary of names for a tortoiseshell kitten with an exceptionally friendly and energetic personality for a cat who’d been left in the woods for at least a couple of days, we settled on Mix, or Mixi (for now). We took her in for an examination Saturday morning after the market, where the veterinarian let us look through the microscope at the … Continue reading

Nothing to see here.

The good stuff isn’t here. It’s in a book that I still haven’t finished which I started writing in, say, 6 years ago. It has all sorts of tidbits. But I think I should start a fresh one because I feel like I’m bound to go somewhere really good with my life now. Yes, this is the gayest post I’ve written yet. And it’ll just get gayer, folks. But it’ll never be as gay as what you’d read in the book I haven’t started writing … Continue reading

Cue joyful profanity!

I’m done, done, done! I finished the last bit of academic hell I had to today, and I am really friggin’ done, I think! Unless the woman I emailed it to emails me back and tells me I f’d everything up. In which case I will switch from dancing around my room like a monkey to storming around town like an angry gorilla, because that’s NOT FAIR! Twenty pages of hell, finished. Anyway, what a weight off my back. I need confirmation that what I’ve … Continue reading

I don’t know, Ron. That sounds a little crazy.

Yeah so I should really take a couple days out of having fun per week to do assignments and homework. Life is not supposed to be this good, apparently, at least not while you’re in school for less than one more month. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I’ve been at it for two days straight and I am still way, way behind. …Ew. This guy on House is not pretty. Brazil nuts, eh? So yeah, Twitter is the latest distraction for just about everyone. Texting the very latest thought … Continue reading

A funny thing happened on the way to the crazy house…

Dan has returned. I like when he blogs and you should too, because he is a real laugh riot. No, I mean that. Go read it or I stab you. Man, I’ve got nothing to say to this blog lately. Except that things are falling into place and school’s almost done. Can’t wait. I’m reading Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs on the suggestion of someone I go to school with, which is amazing, because who knew business students could read, let alone read what turn … Continue reading

Today was a nice taste of springtime in February. Temporary, yet so very right. I got to remember what it was like to wear a jacket instead of a coat. Amazing. I got to walk around on the snowless sidewalks wearing flats and no socks. The best! I can’t wait for this to be all the time again. And if snow is so deadly, why does it only take a little warmth to zap it all away? You have to hate the irony of that. … Continue reading

There’s no day like a snow day

Due to “treacherous” driving conditions today, I decided to stay home. One of two of my classes was cancelled because the prof didn’t want us to die on our way in, so I figured that was enough. I mean, added to the fact that I didn’t really feel like going in the first place. Ah, sweet apathy. The day off was even more a blessing because it means 1) my first day of school isn’t until the Thursday of the first week back, and 2) … Continue reading

This is it, here we go

Listen, Jim. This is a beautiful life. The life of a student on vacation just working and quickly getting poorer by the second. (You do not need to buy this you do not need to buy that STOP BUYING THINGS!) Reading, writing, recycling because no one else goes to the parking garage as often as you do. Burning gasoline to see your family. Preaching conservation and leaving the water on while you shave in the shower. Too hot with sweater, too cold without sweater. This … Continue reading
