I’ve been so quiet

Sorry to have disappeared lately. Between running my shop and running our lives and taking care to make sure our dog eats (he has chronic pancreatitis) and whatever other things pop up and getting little sleep (life in your 30s, basically), it’s been near impossible to take a moment here and there to write! My plan is to make a big ol’ bloggy comeback in the New Year after my shop settles back down after the Christmas rush. Anyway, nothing much to report. Just wanted to say hi, reassure … Continue reading

If I don’t see you, Merry Christmas!

JOY to the WORLD

Well hello! I’m quiet lately, but it isn’t because I don’t like you very much. In fact, if you visit me, I like you a lot. Thank you for your website patronage. It has been a very busy year for our family. I am hoping to get back into the swing of things as my baby doesn’t need to hang off of me 24/7. That should be soon. I will be baby-gating all doorways and tethering him to a wall without electrical outlets and then … Continue reading

34 weeks: Back to mother-blogging

34-week-bump-crop

The amount of traffic this blog received in giving directions and updates on the ice caves in Crystal Beach this week was immense. You can tell how many free and cool things happen around here on a regular basis. Traffic was backed up anywhere from 4 to 24 kilometres on Family Day, Fort Erie’s Gorham Road bursting with would-be sightseers. All that, and no washroom facilities. We sure know how to treat our tourists. While I enjoyed the nice boost, things have gotten a bit … Continue reading

Holy crap! I’ve been mobilized!

Recently I’ve gotten a lot of mobile hits, be they from tablets, smartphones or … I don’t know what else is a mobile device these days — I’m an adult for goodness sake. (Mobile floating heads?) Tonight I mentioned offhand to Miklos that I needed to remedy the lack of mobile-friendliness sometime soon. Half my traffic (or more) comes from these devices, and I know how annoying it is to resize a page when you’re sitting on the toilet/bus. Miklos recently found a great theme … Continue reading

How I Made $100 by Blogging (& How You Can Make Money From My Blogging!)

No, I’m not talking about putting ads on my site, but if that could start to work for me, I’d like that too. I’m also not talking about clicking on those bogus links that say “LOCAL STAY-AT-HOME MOM MAKES $1665 AN HOUR ONLINE!!!!1”, though I’ve never clicked on one of them… so maybe one could be legit. I’m talking about referrals. You’re probably involved in at least one or two organizations which will reward you for talking up their product or service to other people. … Continue reading

How Did You Find Me? Popular Posts on Commatose

One thing I find interesting about this blog, because it is comprised of so many different topics, is the popularity of some of the posts. You would not believe how many people get here searching Google for the Masked Magician. And I don’t even have any inside scoop on the guy. Is he even alive anymore? Who knows! (Wikipedia, probably.) Aside from Google, the power of Pinterest is strong. If you put up a cute article about the crappy DIY cat hammock you made and … Continue reading

One of those “I’m Back” posts

OK, I’m not back. I never left, but I’m updating after a brief hiatus. It’s hard to get into the swing of things using a desktop computer when you’ve used a laptop for 6 years. Yeah yeah, first world problems. I’m not complaining, just stating. What’s taking up my time lately: Job searching Brainstorming Mind mapping Painting Taking pictures of bears sitting up in trees Editing wedding photos Discovering the ins and outs of eBay, which may lead me to a fresh new blogging prospect. … Continue reading

Damn You, Peggy Archer!

It turns out my million-dollar idea is not very original after all. There is already a blog for pictures of abandoned couches. I hate to say it, but I think this internet thing has finally taken off. Then again, we could go regional with this couch thing. Share the post “Damn You, Peggy Archer!” FacebookTwitterGoogle+PinterestStumbleUponE-mail
