Been a while..

Hey, reader! I’ve long neglected this site. I’d have shut it down entirely if it weren’t for the chalazion post and the one about dogs and hyperkeratosis as those are the two main ways readers end up here and they seem to still be relevant, which is always nice. We’ve had some major family losses over the past few years and sadly I don’t think I got to mentioning them as my posts have been regrettably lax. In January 2019, we lost our beautiful fluffy … Continue reading

Canada Loves Me!

I’m mulling over the ol’ Google Analytics (which by the way, is inferior in every way to my old methods, namely Sitemeter and Clicky), and I can’t help but notice the difference between traffic say, 7 years ago, and now on my blogs.  Sure, it’s a different URL, I am far less interactive on the ol’ internets (except on Facebook and Twitter, where I nearly never link to my blog entries, hrm – potential problem on my part).  There was a time when, even without … Continue reading

Bizarro Nikki

It’s a bit of a dark day for the Comma blog.  I realize I am using a template design, but it is so darn cool.  I’m just sad because while looking up the proper way to swallow (according to dentists, I mean… you’re gross) I found this blog.  It’s actually a really cool blog, but it means that I have to think of a clever new layout because someone who is updating consistently is also using this one.  The more I read her, it is … Continue reading

Ball Rolling

I’ve decided on wedding colours.  This sets the tone of the wedding overall (I think), and so now I have the kind of dress I want in mind.  No one seems to have it though, not on the internet, so I shudder to look at dresses in a shop.  Is it terribly unlikely that in seven (7) months’ time I could become a master seamstress and customize my own gown?  I used to draw clothes all the time and I was pretty good at it. … Continue reading

Something’s Peculiar Here

Wait just a minute.  This doesn’t look the same at all! I must have been a terribly indecent person in a past life because 1) I work with the public and 2) my fiance is listening to Coldplay at a volume louder than a whisper.  It seems to me there is something I should be doing tonight (choosing paint colours, painting a door, carving our pumpkins) but I don’t think I’ll muster up the motivation to get any of that done this night.  Especially not … Continue reading

Mommy? Why do you have 20 blogs?

The answer to the above lies in my many personalities, my dear Dan.  (I assume you were the one asking the question.)  I wanted to create a blog for practical purposes — little things I have learned and liked to know, or ideas, and the altogether simpler things.  After all, Rico has a blog, so it’s only right that my domestic side does too.  And don’t tell him he only has one follower.  He’ll ride your ass for days trying to get you to explain … Continue reading

My New Goal

It’s weird thinking that when I wrote that last blog, it was May. An entire summer has shot by us, and Jack Layton, who led the NDP to win more seats than ever before in Canadian federal elections has passed away.  Boy, was I angry (about Harper, I mean).  Truly, nothing ever changes in Canadian politics. We just expect and accept the stupid.  It is very sad about Layton, however.  I don’t endorse any particular political party normally, but the guy himself had a heart … Continue reading

I Can’t Believe It’s a Law Firm!

It’s not often I get to say these words, but I am so glad someone blogged this! After mucking about in Lightroom, I somehow exported the lowest quality ever version of two really neat shots from Hungary that I found tonight, and they overrode the goddam originals! Thankfully, with that tip, I was able to get the pictures back to normal and learn my lesson to never trust Lightroom again.
