Quickly stop pain from bee stings & bug bites

Hi again, everyone! I hope that you and those close to you (physically or not) have been healthy and safe these past months. I’m not posting here much these days but I thought this was a pretty helpful tip and I wanted to share it as it’s just about that time of year again. Our part of the province moved into Stage 3 of reopening this past Friday, which allows children to play on playgrounds once again. Our son was sort of hesitant to play … Continue reading

Happy Hearts Day!

What a sunshiny day! We haven’t had too many of these so far this year. We spent some time in the yard this morning with the melting snow, and we headed over to check on any new developments that may have arisen on the kid’s “stage”. It’s a sort of gazebo built by the previous lady who lived here. It’s empty now because it’s winter but usually it has a space to sit and eat. It would actually make a nice place to play some … Continue reading

Ice shoves no longer — caves being destroyed some time this week

An iconic and beautifully rare scene on the shore of Crystal Beach is about to be destroyed. People flooded the area this past weekend to view the ice shoves at Crystal Beach on Lake Erie. Of course, as in any large crowd, not all went according to plan and common sense was not at its peak. A senior citizen broke a hip after slipping on the ice, emergency vehicle access was blocked by the many illegally parked cars, and by Family Day, the caves themselves … Continue reading

Western Catalpa Tree, Thou Art Mine Enemy

First-time home-owners get messed around a lot. It’s due to a naivety we have and a natural trust in the previous home-owners that has not yet been shattered. Of course no one would ever sell a house that sucks! Well, for the most part, regarding the house itself, we lucked out on trusting the previous owner. We haven’t had so many house problems (barring the near-flood and the subsequent destruction of our basement’s brand new carpet), but we’ve had a lot of yard issues. In … Continue reading

It’s Been Such a Long Time

Back when I used to have 80-100 page views a day (40 or so of which were because of a weird stalker type setting my blog as his homepage), sifting through referring links and search terms was a daily exercise in fun.  I don’t so much get that anymore, maybe because I’m too ADD to figure out Google Analytics (so stalkers, free-for-all time! I won’t even know you’re here!).  Flickr however is a different story.  Flickr makes it easy to figure out where people have … Continue reading

Warm Heart of Winter

This has to be the greatest January for weather in all my life (and maybe yours – I don’t know you).  Of seven (7) days, just one (1) has reached -21°C with the windchill, and only days later it’s as mild as last May would’ve been if it didn’t rain so much that I never went outside to check the temperature, except to let the dog out, but who even checks the temperature when they’re dealing with a mud-soaked defiant animal?  If Canada could go … Continue reading
