Happy Halloween!

Raph for Halloween

Following in my footsteps… I was Raph for Halloween as a kid. My dad and nana made me a paper maché turtle shell by pasting tonnes of newspaper to an oval laundry basket and painting it varying shades of brown. Proportionate to my tiny body, it was not. Memorable, creative and extremely heavy? Definitely. I do prefer the flexy foam shell this kid has, attached by Velcro. Thanks, Value Village! 😀 Happy Halloween to you and yours! Are you dressing up this year? Share the … Continue reading

Best solar lights for Christmas, or any time!

Solar powered LED Christmas lights

Hi there! Hope your summer’s been beautiful. The end of this August means it’s already been over two years since we moved to the place we’re in now! We went from suburban life to country living, which was something of a learning curve. Well water? Coyotes hunting across the street in the bush at night? Spiders the size of your big toe? One unique challenge we had was how we would string up the Christmas lights. There is no power outlet outside our house except … Continue reading

Happy Hearts Day!

What a sunshiny day! We haven’t had too many of these so far this year. We spent some time in the yard this morning with the melting snow, and we headed over to check on any new developments that may have arisen on the kid’s “stage”. It’s a sort of gazebo built by the previous lady who lived here. It’s empty now because it’s winter but usually it has a space to sit and eat. It would actually make a nice place to play some … Continue reading

What I learned when I took a leap — and why you should too

hot pink planner with gold writing

Happy New Year, everyone! Fresh year, fresh start — or something. You can always remain exactly the same if you want, too. I won’t make this post about resolutions because chances are you’ve talked/read a lot about those lately. What I do want to touch upon — after a year that many considered to be awfully bleak — is inspiration. A new year is a good time, I think, to look at your life and focus on what gets your gears turning and your heart pumping (healthily). January … Continue reading

Just a little update…

I know I talk a lot about bibs lately, but this is fast becoming THE thing I do now. I just wanted to show you a few new things I’ve whipped up this week: These newest bibs are reversible, and they can be rolled down to 1) add an adorable accent with their reverse side; and 2) fit smaller for younger babies! I’m revved up about reversible bibs. So much so that the wordplay just slipped out. Sorry about that. They have slouchy style, they’re soft … Continue reading

Cedar Bee Handmade Goods

Plushy toddler bibs

Good news! My new handmade collection, Cedar Bee Handmade Goods, now has a home. Go see it! I’ll be adding a blog (nothing like this wordy ol’ thing) eventually, but right now it’s set up to show you the freshest items as well as the featured in my shop. I’m currently stocking (ha ha!) Christmas scarf bibs that are blankety-soft and absorbent, not to mention seriously cute! In case you missed it, I wrote this the other day. It describes my decision to do something … Continue reading

Journal: New endeavour!

Christmas bibs

As I sit here on my big yellow couch watching Home Alone 2 a little too early in the season with a Gumby wedged into my ribcage apparently, I feel an update is needed. Our small boy is growing, and so fast. This week he learned the word “moonlight” because he is a sweet, silly boy and that’s what makes sense to him to learn at 19 months old. He loves his cats and dogs and has learned how to be gentle with them, and knows … Continue reading

5 fresh free crochet patterns to warm up your winter

I’ve recently rediscovered a love for crochet. Not that I have much time to count stitches or anything with this adorable yelling toddler of mine and a million animals needing food and breaks (so, so needy!), but I like to think I will get at least two projects done this winter. Maybe even before Christmas! Below are some ideas (with free patterns!) that I’m a little obsessed with at the moment. Hopefully they inspire you to get out your hook and whip up something warm.   … Continue reading
