Classical Music and Dogs: A Halfway Surprising Experiment

Classical music time is coma time for the dogs. It would be for me too, except that puppy resting means I can get things done. I am also about 2% more peaceful for listening to it, inclined to spin like a ballerina as I tidy the neighbour’s wayward bags of dog poo from our lawn, if I’m not keeping an eye on myself. Don’t credit me for this magical discovery, however. The suggestion to subject them (and myself) to classical was made to me by … Continue reading

Casey Loves this Record Player

The record player works! We tested it out last night with an old record Miklos’s parents loaned us. When Casey heard the music, she immediately ran upstairs. She came back down a few seconds later with her dead-duck toy and started squeaking away, seemingly to the tune of whichever song was playing. You know, we had our [many] issues at first, but I don’t think I’ve ever known a funnier dog than this one. Share the post “Casey Loves this Record Player” FacebookXShare… Continue reading

Joel Plaskett Show

There has not been a show during which Mr. Plaskett has disappointed me.  Miklos felt bad for me after we missed the June show at Brock because I was working in a pee-pee soaked heckhole so he got these tickets as soon as I found out they were on sale. We’d been looking forward to it all summer.  So when we realized it was actually October 19th this past week, we got ourselves psyched, headed to Hamilton, Ontario, and got slightly lost in a parking … Continue reading

Busy Bee

It’s been a week full of business preparatory.  I can’t help but feel somewhat ready for this now.  It will be nice to actually shoot soon and get back to the part of the whole deal that I love. Tonight the Miklos and I venture off into the Hamilton night to see Mr Joel Plaskett.  We will be serenaded by sweet, sweet tunage and hopefully I will get more than one excellent shot of the band.  I’ve been waiting for this since I missed his … Continue reading

A Day Without a Dog

…or a few hours anyway. So rarely does the house smell as good as it does when there’s no Labrador to shed all over it. I love this dog (now) but I am always glad for these blue moon opportunities to thoroughly mop the hell out of the floors she encrusts with her poochy filth for hours every day. While I wait for the floor to dry as I am stranded on this island of a computer chair, I’m re-familiarizing myself with the sweet rock … Continue reading

IT’S SPRINGTIME!

Do yourself a favour and watch the video for Home – Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros.  Very fun. I am not a talker lately.  I’m not a thinker either, so don’t mistake my silence for introspection.  It’s nice out finally and I am enjoying it.  I have bought non-special occasional dresses for the first time in probably ever.  I am after 28 years ready to maybe be a girl, possibly.  Did you know these things don’t have leg-holes?  I’m very much not ladylike when … Continue reading
