Happy Halloween!

Raph for Halloween

Following in my footsteps… I was Raph for Halloween as a kid. My dad and nana made me a paper maché turtle shell by pasting tonnes of newspaper to an oval laundry basket and painting it varying shades of brown. Proportionate to my tiny body, it was not. Memorable, creative and extremely heavy? Definitely. I do prefer the flexy foam shell this kid has, attached by Velcro. Thanks, Value Village! 😀 Happy Halloween to you and yours! Happy Hearts Day!

What a sunshiny day! We haven’t had too many of these so far this year. We spent some time in the yard this morning with the melting snow, and we headed over to check on any new developments that may have arisen on the kid’s “stage”. It’s a sort of gazebo built by the previous lady who lived here. It’s empty now because it’s winter but usually it has a space to sit and eat. It would actually make a nice place to play some … Continue reading

Why we love the Dream On Me Pack N Play Mattress

Hi again! Sometimes I like something enough that I feel sharing a few tidbits about my experience with it will benefit people in similar situations. This is one of those times. Here’s my review on this pack n play mattress that seemingly has magical powers over our nap-resisting son. [This post contains affiliate links.]    When John started sleeping over at his grandparents’ place, they got a Graco Pack N Play. We had one already that we’d loved since he was first born but weren’t ready to part … Continue reading

Turning 2!

Birthday cake time!

Happy birthday, Coolguy! This kid is our light. He’s made everything better and given us 1) a whole new perspective on life; 2) the realization that sleep deprivation is a powerful torture mechanism; and 3) filled our (previously grey & withered) hearts with love. Anyway I’ll hush up now. I just like this guy a bunch and can’t believe it’s been two years since my bladder worked properly. Love you, kid! 3 (+2) chalazion treatments that really helped

[UPDATED May 19, 2016: Have you been here before? I’ve added new stuff to this post. Scroll to the bottom for my favourite chalazion-busters yet.] The title of this post is misleading. We tried many ways. When our little guy got his first chalazions (one under each eye, ugh) around the age of one and a half, we naturally thought they were styes. I get them every so often from eye makeup, and figured that if they’re contagious, he may have gotten one from me … Continue reading

Just a little update…

I know I talk a lot about bibs lately, but this is fast becoming THE thing I do now. I just wanted to show you a few new things I’ve whipped up this week: These newest bibs are reversible, and they can be rolled down to 1) add an adorable accent with their reverse side; and 2) fit smaller for younger babies! I’m revved up about reversible bibs. So much so that the wordplay just slipped out. Sorry about that. They have slouchy style, they’re soft … Continue reading

Christmas bibs

As I sit here on my big yellow couch watching Home Alone 2 a little too early in the season with a Gumby wedged into my ribcage apparently, I feel an update is needed. Our small boy is growing, and so fast. This week he learned the word “moonlight” because he is a sweet, silly boy and that’s what makes sense to him to learn at 19 months old. He loves his cats and dogs and has learned how to be gentle with them, and knows … Continue reading

DIY: Extra-sensitive skin baby wipes

DIY Make-at-home baby wipes for extra-sensitive skin! No more diaper rash.

I don’t know of many young ones who get diaper rash every time a regular baby wipe is used, but darn it if we didn’t end up with just such a baby boy. Our first plan of action was Pampers Sensitive Skin wipes. They’re a bit pricier per unit, but you do what you have to do to avoid a red butt on your kid. Sadly, those still seemed to irritate the boy’s skin. Thankfully, before our son was even born I’d found a great post about … Continue reading
