How Did You Find Me? Popular Posts on Commatose

One thing I find interesting about this blog, because it is comprised of so many different topics, is the popularity of some of the posts. You would not believe how many people get here searching Google for the Masked Magician. And I don’t even have any inside scoop on the guy. Is he even alive anymore? Who knows! (Wikipedia, probably.) Aside from Google, the power of Pinterest is strong. If you put up a cute article about the crappy DIY cat hammock you made and … Continue reading

Civic Holiday Blues — Flea Fest ’13

Got a chance to visit my aunt’s beautiful cottage up in the Thousand Islands. (We had several salads without said dressing however.) A fun and even relaxing weekend. When we came back, we found our dogs covered in fleas. This had never happened before — we’ve been very lucky. I guess our dogs just decided to hang out with some fleas this weekend when my sister took them out for a while. We cleaned the house a hundred times, flea-bathed and combed the dogs for … Continue reading

Animal Update

It was Rico’s estimated birthday a few short days ago. That’s right. My cat is 9 years old. This cat has been with me through thick and thin, so I decided to make a toy out of a TP roll for him, which Junior later ate. Mixi had to go to the vet last week after we began to notice her itching and licking her fur like crazy and developing scabs which turned into sores. A few shots later and she’s doing well, though she … Continue reading

Bears in a Tree

Here are the bears we saw cooling off in a tree on a very hot day a few weeks ago near Grundy Lake. Of course, the first time I forgot my camera at the cottage before a boat ride was the first time I ever saw a baby bear peeking out of the bushes along the lake. Lesson learned. NEVER. LEAVE. CAMERA.   Share the post “Bears in a Tree” FacebookTwitterGoogle+PinterestStumbleUponE-mail

Koko the Gorilla Loves Cats, So I Love Koko the Gorilla

This wonderful gorilla not only knows over 1000 words in sign language, but also loves cats, naming them through sign language and teaching them to eat cake, among other things. Here is Koko playing with Smokey and Lipstick. This gorilla’s story can be found here, along with more stories of animals who have their own pets. Found on FreeKibbleKat.com today. Cats with Horned Paws — It’s a Thing

fluffy grey cat with bright green eyes

It took about three years for Jane to become comfortable enough to allow me to pick her up. In fact, she is a bit of a mysery. Most days she hides out downstairs. We didn’t discover there was a name for her breed (Nebelung) until last year when I answered trivia on FreeKibbleKat which sounded a lot like a description of our fluffball. We just keep finding things out about our old cat Jane. Yesterday’s discovery was something Miklos had noticed long ago but somehow forgot … Continue reading

Donate to Animal Shelters Daily for Free

There are a couple of great sites I visit daily. I’ve had them on my bookmark bar for years and if you’re a fan of helping animals without homes, you should too. Best part is, it’s not costing you anything and you don’t need to sign up to do it. Sponsors pay the donations, as long as you keep visiting and clicking to show your support. And if you feel like donating your own money, there are ways to do that too! The Animal Rescue … Continue reading
