I don’t share things like this here often (you see enough of them on Facebook), however this one explains why I refuse to spend time with people who suck the life out of me:
I feel like everyone should adhere to this rule as much as is within their control.
Your life spans a short time, and you don’t need to spend it with people who guilt trip or demand your time without contributing anything positive in return. You need to spend it with the people, places and things that lift you up, and that help you enjoy your time to its fullest.
Don’t compromise your happiness for dummies. Spend every minute you can a happy person, and use that positive energy to make others enjoy their lives too.
If you think back, there are probably a few years you wasted away in negativity. I have a lot of them. Consider those years your learn-from time.
At some point, and largely due to the influence of some incredible people — including Miklos, our families and a couple of close friends — it hit me that I didn’t want to look back on my life and realize it was spent feeling like garbage.
So that’s why I don’t spend time with or on people who have spent a good majority of their lives stirring the pot for themselves and others.
Those people contribute nothing to anything — why reward them for that? No matter how bad they try to make you feel for severing ties, just let them go.
Make your life one you’ll love to remember, contribute to the happiness of others whose actions prove they want the same, and if there’s someone demanding your time who has given less than zero to anyone but themselves all the while making others feel bad, don’t include them in your plans.
